HOLY THURSDAY MASS INTENTION
The feast of Maundy (or Holy) Thursday solemnly commemorates the institution by Christ Himself of the Eucharist and of the Sacerdotal Priesthood. As we celebrate this feast on April 17th 2014 we will be mindful we live in times when this incomparable gift of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is under attack in many areas of the world.
Whilst it is true that a small proportion of our priests lost their way and did terrible harm to God's "Little ones" for which they must one day answer to Almighty God, the vast majority of our priests are basically good men who are stumbling along just like the rest of us as they labour in The Lord's vineyard. They especially need our prayers to successfully perform the tasks to which they were called on the day of their ordination.
Now is the hour to show our pastors that we appreciate them by giving them a gift more precious than gold this Holy Thursday.
As soon as possible let each of us approach our own pastor and offer him a modest mass stipend with the request that he offer Holy Mass this coming Holy Thursday with the following mass intention "For our priests and for vocations in our parish".
By so doing the whole parish will have the opportunity to become involved on this special day in praying for both its present and future needs. Hopefully, by sharing this suggestion with your friends and relatives the idea will spread throughout the land and many more parishes will join in this mission this coming Holy Thursday and in future years.
What a threefold opportunity:
